the group's history :

The strategy of the NEU SA group is the design and construction of ìtailor madeî industrial equipment based on the use of Air.

Manufacturing know how in aeraulics and air treatment goes back to 1906, when Henri NEU, promoter of industrial air, founded the Etablissements NEU Limited Company.

The company worked in all parts of the country by 1912 and started its international expansion in 1967. Etablissements NEU opened its Marcq-en-Baroeul factory between 1959 and 1961 to build a design and research center, and a test station; it also contains the Headquarters and General Services.
Faced with the changing situation, Etablissements NEU was taken over firstly by Elf Aquitaine in 1980 and then the Société Financière de Participations Industrielles (Financial Industrial Holdings Company) in 1989. The subsidiarization policy revitalized activities in the various departments.

The group now includes eight subsidiaries, including two in other countries, each excelling in a specific use of air. The NEU SA Group employs 500 persons and its consolidated sales are now 500 million Francs.

The SFPI holds 90.88% of NEU SA, installed in Marcq-en-Baroeul.

The NEU Technical Institute (ITN) provides training in the Groupís specific techniques (ventilation, air conditioning, drying, dedusting, etc.) to anyone who wants it, and particularly to NEU SA employees. ITN also offers a consultancy activity in Quality organization. ITN also works in the field of industrial process control and automation, through its NEU Automation department.

NEU 2 M (Assembly and Maintenance) provides assembly and maintenance services on industrial ventilation, air treatment, dedusting and material transport systems for industrial installations.

CARON Entreprise, a subsidiary of NEU 2M, designs and maintains industrial electrical installations.

NEU Transf'air activities are based on the pneumatic transport of bulk products, and cleaning railway tracks by vacuum cleaner train.

NEU Engineering Ltd is the NEU SA group's subsidiary in the United Kingdom.

WEFA NEU makes metallic ventilation and air conditioning ducts, and installs duct networks.

NEU Aerodynamique markets the activities of several subsidiaries in Belgium. But it also provides special know how such as pneumatic transport under nitrogen, the construction of fluidized beds and dedusting in ferrous alloy industries.

NEU Systèmes Ferroviaires designs and makes fans, ventilation and heating units, air conditioning units, automation and regulation systems for the railway rolling stock market.

NEU SA is consolidating its market shares, and one third of its total sales are made internationally.

Diversification of its activity fields helps to increase NEU SA's independence. This in itself is a symbol of durability appreciated by all the group's customers.

Railways, the industry in which the NEU Systèmes Ferroviaires subsidiary dedicates all its activity, is currently expanding and becoming more important: its sales increased from 2% of NEU SA's total sales in 1993 to 6% in 1997.
